About Me

Hi, I'm Nikole LaRue Collier, an artist based in Kansas City, Missouri. I’ve been creating art for as long as I could hold a pencil. I grew up in Indiana and then Texas, and spent a lot of time watching my dad work in the arts, develop his own artwork (which eventually took over our house), and sell his art at shows. One could say I was surrounded by art my whole life. I’ve always had a gift from God to create beautiful things, and for a while I was in denial about becoming an artist, but God had other plans. After testing out a couple majors, I earned my BFA in Integrated Studio Arts from Iowa State University, where I explored and fell in love with a variety of new media, including metalsmithing and ceramics.

Over time, my art has grown more personal, rooted in faith, emotion, and the beauty of God’s creation. More recently, I’ve found myself especially inspired by the elements and materials found in nature, as well as the patterns and forms woven throughout it. Whether I’m hand-fabricating jewelry, shaping clay, or drawing, I approach each piece as an opportunity to use my God-given creativity to add beauty to people’s lives, spark reflection, and invite connection. I’m especially honored when my work can capture a memory or speak to someone’s personal experience. Above all, I pray that God is glorified through what I create.

Thank you for sharing this journey with me!
